ADAM CRUZ: BIOGRAPHY

Introduced to the turntables by his cousin, Frank Garcia, Adam Cruz has been spinning music since he was 10 years old. His talents include mixing oldies, classics, and the new in a way that puts your ear in awe. Adam's love of music manifests in his spirited DJing style, making dance floors groove to his expansive collection of music. Taking his cues from such legendary artists as Frankie Feliciano, Doug Smith, Nicky P., and so many others, Adam has taken the house music community by storm, producing and breaking new music from around the globe. Ultimately, his passion for music has garnered respect and admiration from his musical peers for years.

Known to be very original, Adam's innovative approach to house music has been heard from DC's Five Club and Club Red to London's SoshoMatch and Notting Hill Arts Club. Back across the globe in New York City, Adam has been heard at Bang the Party, Sole Channel, and Roots alongside Kevin Hedge and Louie Vega. For almost 4 years, Adam dedicated his time to playing at Brooklyn's Halcyon, where his party, Mixtape Sessions, took on a new venue and voice for house music, playing alongside such artists and DJs as Grammy award winner, Louie Vega, Blaze, Tony Humphries, Jellybean Benitez, DJ Mr. V, Frankie Feliciano, and many others.

His love for quality dance music led him to work directly with producing duo, Masters at Work, at their New Jersey office, where he acted as the art director for most of their 12” releases and Vega’s debut solo album, “Elements of Life”. After leaving MAW Records to pursue other interests, Adam’s passion for this music brought him back to the record business, courtesy of the godfather of Disco Mel Cheren and Kevin Hedge, president of West End Records. After a short time consulting for the label, Adam was asked to join the West End team. For the next 4 years, Adam headed up A&R, Production, and all on-line initiatives. During his tenure as A&R and Production Director, Adam signed over 50 musical copyrights and worked with the legendary Blaze, Stephanie Cooke, Mr. A.L.I., hip-hop pioneers Marley Marl and Red Alert, and many others.

Beyond his work in the record business, Adam’s producing interests have led him to work with several other record companies, releasing original works and remixes for such top notch labels as Diaspora Recordings, Slaag Records, and West End Records. Adam has just completed work as associate producer of the documentary film “G.O.D. The Godfather of Disco” currently making the rounds at film festivals worldwide to critical acclaim. In January 2008, Adam also launched his own record company, Mixtape Sessions Music, releasing original material and remixes from artists around the world.
